My Pet & Me

A couple of days ago I posted my first entry into this year's Transmog Competition hosted by the good folks over at OpenRaid. I am so glad that they hosted this competition, as it was a great excuse to start mogging again. Would you believe that they got over 400 entries!? I do not envy the judges one bit. They certainly have their work cut out for them.

So anywho, here is my second entry. This one is for the "My Pet & Me" category, which requires matching a transmog to your pet. I matched my mog to my green Core Hound pet, tamed in (the old) Shadowmoon Valley.

Most of the pieces for this set were put together using items I'd purchased off of the auction house. Actually, for anyone looking to recreate this look, everything but the bow can potentially be found on the AH.

Items used in this Transmog & Source:

Captain's Circlet - Most commonly drops off rares in the low level 40's
Fel Iron Chain Tunic - Blacksmithing (320)
Unyielding Fists - Level 60 - 70 (Burning Crusade) World Drop
Soldier's Girdle - Most commonly drops off rares between level 10 - 20
Kilt of Trollish Dreams - Level 80 - 85 (Cataclysm) World Drop
Elven Chain Boots - Level 50ish World Drop
Bristleblitz Striker - Archimonde, Hyjal Summit

Here is the shot that I sent in for the competition. It was taken in Shadowmoon Valley by The Hand of Gul'dan, right where I originally tamed this lovely Core Hound. I love how the colors all blend together so well, and am very pleased with the piece I submitted.

I'll share a secret with you: I probably took over 100 screen shots in this location before I FINALLY landed on one I was pleased with.

Fired Up!

Nope, not dead. Just busy. Still mogging though! Here's my latest~

The good folks over at OpenRaid are holding their annual Transmog Competition right now. They've got some fun new categories/themes this year, including a "Fired Up" category which I jumped right into.

The theme requirements: "Your theme is from Firelands/Molten Core/etc and involves a fiery look and screenshot location."

My submission for the contest was built around my shaman's transmog that she's been using for the last few years. This mog was originally put together to match the Tabard of the Achiever. Her mog used so much red that I didn't have to change out too many pieces. Heck, I probably didn't need to switch out any at all, but this was a fun way for me to liven up my mog. Plus, I LOVE the conquest point shoulders. They also fit the theme perfectly, as they basically look like molten lava breaking out of the earth's crust.

Most of the pieces were fairy easy to get, coming out of low level raids or off the auction house. Unfortunately the pants and gloves are no longer obtainable though and there are no identical look-alikes in game. :( There are however, a lot of nice red gloves and pants to choose from that will match perfectly for anyone looking to create a similar set. Any of the Bloodlust pieces are the first that come to mind.

Items used in this Transmog & Source:

Stylin' Crimson Hat - Leatherworking (350)
Primal Gladiator's Ringmail Spaulders - PVP, Ashran/Stormshield Vendors
Gauntlets of Divinity - Originally from Scarlet Monastery (no longer obtainable)
Scarlet Belt - Originally from Scarlet Monastery (now extremely low drop from Big Crate of Salvage)
Scarlet Leggings - Originally from Scarlet Monastery (no longer obtainable)
Mercurial Greaves - Vanilla raid trash drop/high level 50's world drop
Syphon of the Nathrezim - Supremus, Black Temple
Drillborer Disk - Garr, Molten Core

Here is my screenshot submission for the contest below. I chose Firelands for my location. It's all about the sky there! <3

Update: This mog placed 2nd in the "Fired Up!" theme. Woot! Winner list and mogs here: OpenRaid Transmog Competition Winners

Moggin' with Tabrads - Tabard of the Hand, Plate (Sam's Transmog Contest)

Here is my final entry for Sam's Transmog Contest, which focused on designing a transmog around Tabard of the Hand. All of my submissions (1 for each armor type) can easily be viewed by looking under the Sam's Transmog Contest label. The contest is now over, and the winners and all of the entries can be viewed here: Sam’s Transmog Contest – Winners! (and all the other entries!). Check it out if you haven't already, there were some amazing mogs!

Ok, so first of all, please ignore the headpiece pictured below. I dunno if it was just a tired mommy brain, too much wine or what, but the headpiece pictured below is actually mail. Ugh. I noticed it way after the fact, so just pretend it's not there. I listed some other PLATE headpieces below that would have worked quite well with this.

As you can see, I was going with the whole blended color thing again (yeah, I know I do that a lot - but I REALLY like it). Darker colors toward the bottom, then getting lighter as it moves up.

Moggin' with Tabards - Tabard of the Hand, Mail (Sam's Transmog Contest)

This was my third entry for Sam's Transmog Contest, which was to design a transmog to go with Tabard of the Hand.

This particular mog could be worn by both shaman and hunters. Hunters would obviously need to switch out the mace & off-hand for a bow or gun, but otherwise all pieces can be obtained and worn by both classes.

When I was putting this mog together, I used the same color blending method as I did with my Leather entry, with one difference. For the leather transmog I used shades of orange that were a lot lighter and closer to the colors actually used in the tabard. For this one I went for a much brighter and dramatic fade, again with darker shades starting at the bottom and gradually getting lighter as you move up the set. I was ultimately happier with how the leather mog came out, but I am still quite fond of this one too.

Items used in this Transmog & Source:

Lord's Pauldrons - most commonly dropped off of level 50ish rares
Mutant Scale Breastplate - Mutanus the Devourer, Wailing Caverns
Edgemaster's Handguards - level 50ish world drop

Orcish War Leggings - Blacksmithing (230)
Mercurial Greaves - Vanilla raid trash drop/high level 50's world drop
Fool's Bane - Terestian Illhoof, Karazhan
Dungeoneering Guide - Inscription (510)

Moggin' with Tabards - Tabard of the Hand, Leather (Sam's Transmog Contest)

So here is my second entry (leather version) for Samaramon's Transmog Contest. To reiterate, this contest is to design a transmog to go with Tabard of the Hand, the tabard that Draenei get in their starting zone from completing The Unwritten Prophecy.

This transmog would be for a Draenei monk, and if I had to choose, I'd say that this was my favorite of the four mogs that I put together for the contest.

My goal here was to choose armor pieces with similar shades of grey and orange that were used in the tabard, and then get kind of a blended look going on. See how the orange on the lower part of the tabard is darker, and it gradually gets lighter as it moves up the tabard? What I tried do do was something similar with all of the armor she is wearing. I used gear with darker shades of orange on her feet & legs and chose lighter pieces (still in the same shade) as they got higher on her body. The orange used on her shoulders & head are almost identical to the shade at the top of the tabard.

What's nice about this mog, is that the items used aren't that difficult to obtain either, and some of the pieces even have identical-looking alternatives.

Other-Eye Patch - Quest reward from Our Mortal Enemies
Mantle of Perenolde - Drops from Epoch Hunter, Old Hillsbrad Foothills (Normal Mode)

Moggin' with Tabards - Tabard of the Hand, Cloth (Sam's Transmog Contest)

Ok, yeah I know, it's been kind of dead around here recently. There's just SO much to do these days, and so little time do to it. Blogs have kind of been on the back burner as a result.

Anywho, a couple weeks ago I found out about Samaramon's Transmog Contest and got super excited. She wants some mogs (any armor type) designed around Tabard of the Hand, the tabard that Draenei get in their starting zone from completing The Unwritten Prophecy

Sam is also being uber nice by accepting entries using any race, but I felt I had to use a Draenei for my entries as I'm also posting these as part of my "Moggin' with Tabards" series. I actually ended up using Euphyley's model for the first time ever. Darn hunter is always stealing the spotlight!

This entry somehow ended up being all about stripes! It started with one piece (I believe it was the leggings), and things just kind of snowballed from there. I had a hard time choosing shoulders I liked, but ultimately landed on these because I loved how the grey color looked as if it were fading right into the tabard.

Silksand Circlet - level 40ish world drop
Gleaming-Eye Shoulderpads - Megaera, Throne of Thunder (Raid Finder)
